Thought for the Week -
Last week we discussed switching ourselves on to the inner communication we can receive from Spirit, the Life Force or Higher Power. This week we'll discuss dreams as a method of getting in touch our inner communication. We can get a lot of information and valuable insights by developing our dreams and recalling them.
Ask to Remember
Most of us won't have a problem remembering nightmares but because dreams are more subtle and don't demand much attention, the memory of them often evaporates when we wake. One solution to this is to ask to remember them or make a mental note to remember them just before you go to sleep. You could also ask a question to be answered or to show you some insight into a problem. For example if you have a situation which you can't figure out, ask to be shown an insight into it.
Dream Journal
Sometimes you will wake up just knowing that you have been given a solution to the problem or you feel more confident in facing the situation. Other times you may wake up knowing you found the answer to your question during the night but now that you are awake you just can't remember a thing. Keeping a dream journal may help but you'll need the discipline to rouse yourself from sleep enough to write a few notes about the dream. I will write just a few key words or short sentences. I'll scrawl down enough info to give me a few points to spark the memory of the dream. Then when I wake up in morning I'll write out the full dream or as much I can remember. I'll also write a note about what I think it relates to.
Snooze
Another method I’ve found useful is to go back to sleep or snooze a little, just after you wake. If you can remember dreaming as you wake up, go back to sleep for a bit more so you can gather your memories of the dream into your mind. You may snooze back to sleep but your recall will be clearer. Collect your thoughts and gather enough information to write in our dream journal.
The Process
So the process is:
- Ask to remember your dreams or ask a question before you go to sleep
- Keep a Dream Journal
- Have a snooze after you wake up so you can recall your dreams.
Sleep well and make use of your dreams.
