Thought for the Week -
If you can switch on your intuition you will be a long way towards being in touch with your true self, Soul. It just takes time, practice and a bit of effort. Intuition works differently for everyone. It's as individual as you are. To get started you need to test different methods to see what works for you.
Some people try and catch the first idea or thought that comes to mind. Others will see an image and delve into it to see where it leads. Some get a message from the circumstances or situation they are in. You may find some intuitions come using a mix of these methods.
Whichever method you choose, it will need to be tested so that you can be sure it works for you. For example, if you are travelling to a place and come to a point where you have three different directions you can go. All of them will take you to the same place. There is left, straight ahead or right. Which do you choose?
First Thought method
If you are using the first thought or idea method, be sure you catch the first thought, as the mind will often grab it and quickly offer an adjusted one. Your first thought may be to go straight ahead but your mind grabs it and says the path to the right looks like it is well used so it's the one to go for. If you choose the second thought you've lost the original idea from Soul.
Visual Images method
If you get visual images as intuition you may see the road ahead linked to an image of your destination. The other two directions may evoke an unclear picture. Again be careful of what the mind may throw up for you. Using logic it can bring forth an image of crowds going to the right which you may associate with the best option.
Messages method
Those who get messages may see a sign post, or something that indicates the direction. Be careful to note the first image as the mind may bring in other more rational options.
So now you have your intuition, how can you be sure it is the best option? You have to test it. Using the example above, our intuition tells us the road straight ahead is the one to go for.
Getting over the mind
The first hurdle we have to cross is the logical and convincing arguments the mind will offer as the best route. The mind in Western cultures tends to be quite dominant and based on logical arguments. You will have to be determined to go for the option suggested by your intuition.
It will be easy if you try the test on something that isn’t important to you. For example you could use it to see which route you should take on your way home, to work or to the shops. So you have arrived at a crossroads. Ask yourself, your inner guide, your Higher Power or Holy Spirit which direction you should go.
Stay alert for the first though or idea that comes to you. Write it down if it helps you remember it. Now watch how you get a another suggestion, and another, and another. Check these out, let your mind have its say. Now, say to yourself and your mind, “I’ve looked at all the options and despite the fact that my first thought or intuition seems completely wrong, I’m going in that direction.” This will quieten the mind so that you can proceed without it nagging you with worries about the ‘right and logical’ way.
Check it out
When you get to your destination if you have the time, go back via the ‘right and logical’ route. See if there were any hold ups or diversions which may have caused a delay or interruption. Also bear in mind that if you end up in an unplanned situation because you took the intuition route, the situation was probably necessary to you.
How does this work? You are opening your communication between your lower physical self and Soul, your true self. Soul lives in the here and now. Soul lives in the God worlds. You are a part of God. You are accessing that part of your self which has infinite knowledge at hand. Soul sees a lot more than the mind can with its logical processes. Why wouldn’t you want to use the higher knowledge?
