Waterford Opening

River_sanctuary_2

I was at the opening of the Waterford Healing Arts Trust’s exhibition Passengers in the Regional Hospital, Waterford, last week. There was a good turn out of artists, staff and admirers. There was a bit of confusion about the piece I submitted. They actually wanted to show Path of Lives, which has a spiral in it, and not Spirals as I originally thought. The exhibition was opened by Dick Warner, the Irish broadcaster and environmentalist, who mentioned that he originally thought a hospital was a curious place to hold an exhibition. But on reflection he decided it was an excellent place as there is an audience of patients, visitors and staff, some of who spend a lot of time waiting around the hospital. The art surrounding them can help brighten and bring new visions to their lives.

Sanctuary
I’ve started a new picture called River Sanctuary. It’s a place where you can go to find peace, enlightenment and wisdom. There are challenges in reaching this place but you know it will be worth the effort when you get there.

The picture above shows its the current stage. Have a look over it, click the image and a larger version in a window will appear. If you have any comments on how to improve it I’d love to hear them.

Travel Within
I added Travel Within to the gallery on the web site along with a some explanatory text...

Spiritual travel within ourselves offers such at range of possibilities. If I was a ‘Travel Within’ ticket agency there would be a library of brochures to give information on the various areas, regions and locations that a soul could go to. More>>

Complete Contemplation

Contemplation_cofin1000

I finally completed Contemplation. I started it in September and four month and 40 hours work later it’s finished. I’ve taken a detail from the picture to explain how contemplation works for me. If you’d like to see the progress here are the previous posts- October, November, January and the final piece will be on the web site shortly.

I sit in a quiet place, take a few deep breaths and sing a holy word for a few minutes. This helps me connect and get in tune with Spirit. With my eyes closed I watch my inner screen where light will come and go. I will also try and listen for a sound within myself. This sound can be like thunder, running water, waves or musical instruments. It’s not a sound from the physical surroundings but from deep within.

While watching the light and listening to the sound, ideas and thoughts come across the mind. The ideas may be of situations, people or events in life. At first they seem closed and inaccessible. As they float through the mind and I float around them they begin to open and reveal themselves. From this new angle another view is revealed. The lid opens and the truth or some hidden knowledge becomes apparent.

I usually do the contemplation in the morning. This way I have some insights into what’s comng during the day and have some possible solutions for the situations. If you'd like further guidance on doing a contemplation just a leave a comment below.

New Web Site

Contemplation_final_10_4

Happy New Year and I hope the Christmas you had was enjoyable. I had some fun over the holiday period but I was also working on my new web site.

New Web Site
The address for the new web site is www.EdP-SpiritualArt.com (you don’t’ need the Capital letters, it’s just a bit more readable with them). I’m using a new method of building a site. This is based on providing content. That means words and information. So now I’m working on developing my writing. It does make sense that surfers on the net are looking for information and pictures as far as the search engines are concerned don’t rate highly. So I’m going to more words to my pictures, to the descriptions of the pictures that is.

I’ve also added a few articles on spiritual topics to the site along with a number of pages of inspirational quotations. Have a look and let me know what you think. If you see any misspellings or blunders please tell me about them. There’s a comments page on the site which you can fill in. This is a work in progress so I’ll be adding bits to it all the time. Check the New Stuff page to see what’s been updated or added.

I’ve also changed this blog so it matches the web site a bit closer. If all this effort works I’ll let you know about the system but for now it’s way to early to tell. It’ll be months before I know if this site works any better than my old site.

Expose Yourself even more
Karen Harper’s Expose Yourself gallery is back in full swing again in Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre. She sold over 60 pieces before Christmas and as I was among her sales I’m very happy to continue exposing myself there. If you’d like to meet me I’ll be at the gallery on Thursdays and Fridays from about 12 to about 2.

Contemplation
Over the weekend I finally got back to a bit of painting. I started working on Contemplation or the Female Buddha as a friend of mine calls it. The picture here is how it has developed. What do you think? Are there any items that don’t fit or irritate you? I’d welcome any of your comments which you think might make it better. Click on the image to open a larger picture. Here’s the last post on Contemplation for comparison.
